Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko Episodes 1-2
I squeezed in watching this last night when I was supposed to read for my thesis. /smirks
I admit that I only watched it for the art and this line from its synopsis: “he meets his mysterious cousin of the same age Touwa Erio — who happens to tie a futon mattress around her upper body.” Having a transfer student as a main character is not unusual, but having a cousin—not a love interest, that ties a mattress around her body all the time? Who also happens to eat pizza without removing the said mattress? I give it an A+ for being unique, and I will give it an A++ in the future if this story does not turn out to be some weird incest shit. It appears to have many references to the movie E.T., such as the bike and moon concepts, but a certain somebody at GogoAnime commented that the ending song is also a reference. I have no idea if that’s true though, I’m just thankful that the ending song isn’t as dreadful as its opening.
The anime has its comedic values, such as the lead guy Makoto travelling to the city in hopes of youthful rebellion, such as the aunt inspiring to be a moe character, such as his classmate wandering around in a sandwich suit and such as his other classmate striving to be a “tropical girl so fruity so that fruit juice will run through her veins,” but the anime foreshadows on the element of darkness or depression on the fact that Makoto’s aunt (in short, Erio’s mom) doesn’t acknowledge Erio’s existence. The reason why his aunt lives on the pretense that she’s living alone should be exposed somewhere in the anime. Yes, it was stated in the first two episodes that Erio was gone missing for half a year and has acted strangely until then, but is that enough for a mother to ignore her daughter’s existence?
What I’m not sure of yet is if this anime will take a dive towards the supernatural genre or the psychological genre. (Too lazy to check it out) She may be telling the truth, but she may also be just delusional. I have made up my mind to stick with this anime until at least I know what is up with our pretty heroine. I have also removed the assumption that this will be extreme ecchi basing on how they censored what was supposed to be a frontal pantsu shot.
Speaking of pantsu shots, I severely pray that this Makoto won’t end up like his namesake from School Days, seeing that he’s also on the perverted side. I kind of like his character. Amen.

I also watched the first episodes of 30 Sai no Hoken Taiiku and A Channel. Not sure if I will continue watching them.
