Katekyo Hitman Reborn AMV (my sister’s) and Review (mine)

Song: Easy Go by Kazuki Kato

Just being a proud sister and sharing my sister’s AMV of Katekyo Hitman Reborn!:) It must be my unsaid duty since I also shared her Durarara!! and Gintama (Yoshiwara Arc) AMVs before. Actually, I’m a bit jealous since she has the time, patience and skills to make AMVs while I have none, no matter how much I love animu. As you may notice, I also haven’t made my promise Katekyo Hitman Reborn! review yet. It’s quite problematic to make a single review on a 203-episode anime so I was stalling a lot. But I guess I’ll have a go now:

Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is an addicting and great watch, as it is not like its shounen animu friends where all we see is fighting. Sure, there are tons of fighting scenes but in some way or another, the creators have managed to squeeze in some scenes (or episodes) where we could see character development vital in the story. Heed this warning though: you must have strong determination to be able to stomach the first 17 episodes of the series and all the fillers. The fillers aren’t as long as Naruto thankfully, but sometimes the momentum is broken and you wonder: “why on earth are they playing around when they’re supposed to be training desperately since their time is limited?!” But the agony of watching these spoilers is nothing to the agony of watching the first 17 episodes. So I suggest that you skip the 17 episodes, ask someone to tell you who the hell the characters are while watching, then voila: you see action immediately! You now know that the story really is leading somewhere, so you may watch the first 17 episodes after finishing some of the arcs (I watched them after watching episode 203 >:D).

Continuity in terms of strength levels is properly executed in this series, since after beating an opponent, their next opponent is clearly stronger than the last. I made it a point to mention this since this is what stopped me from finishing Bleach. Case in point:

Ichigo defeating powerful opponents then gets shamelessly being beat up by weaker opponents. Case in point in the case in point: the Bounto Arc. Seriously, who gets beat up by a guy who controls snakes after beating some shinigami captains?! Annoying!

I haven’t read the manga yet since duty calls, so I don’t know if this is still true for the manga. Another thing I admire in this series is that the fights never take longer than they should. Approximately only two episodes are needed for a single fight so the battle is never unnecessarily extended due to ridiculous power ups and unexplainable regenerating skills—and some characters can even rightfully regenerate. Also, the protagonists suffer losses more than usual in anime, so you really can’t predict the outcome of fights. All in all, a good anime! I should have jumped in the bandwagon and fanbase earlier.

However, it must be unintended, but women are depicted rather lowly in this anime. Haru and Kyoko are only useful when they cook and clean (when they decided to take things into action, they usually just cause trouble —> they also annoy me at times), and the only strong girl up to date is Lal Mirch, who wins in a battle but is then rendered useless at half of the entire Future ordeal. Chrome  is too emotional, and is only strong at the beginning of the series. I heard she has trained well before the final Future Arc battle but we don’t really have proof. Damn she’s lucky she has Mukuro. I wish I had my own Mukuro too.

My favorite characters are Lambo and Fran. My third runner-up is Belphegor. I actually do not support the guyxguy pairings in KHR, and my OTP is HaruxTsuna. Scratch Kyoko, I hate her. I also wager that Ryohei’s future girlfriend is Hana, not Haru, which is who my sister says is. Speaking of Ryohei, has anyone noticed that Ryohei is treated as a side character? She’s always referred to as “Kyoko’s oniisan.” (=__= )

Overall, I’d recommend it. The bishounens are a-plenty and Tsuna’s Operation X faantastic~ And Mini Mosca’s a cutie pie (made me creys) and Squalo’s so noisyyy~

Hey, have you ever watched a battle where the two fighters are seated in chairs the entire fight?

Hi there fellow anime fans :)

I’m quite sorry I haven’t blogged anything worthy for you to still follow me in ages, but I plan to change that now in light of the new anime season.:] So despite all the letter writing I have to do (I don’t really want to talk about it) I plan to regularly blog the new season of Gintama! Yey!♥ I don’t plan on doing extra- ultra- mega- giga- psychoanalyses on the show, I just want to give a few comments here and there. Actually, I’ve already watched episode 202, but since its arc isn’t finished yet, I shall wait for it to end before I blog about it. So basically it’s not episode blogging, but arc blogging.

Lately, I’ve been rewatching Durarara!! and Kare Kano (aka His and Her Circumstances), and I’m seeing these series in a new light. I watched Kare Kano when I was young via television, so I wasn’t able to watch all the episodes. I watched Durarara!! several months ago, even blogged about it regularly, but there’s just this certain magic when you marathon it—you see the connections among the characters and the events better. Maybe it is true that love is sweeter the second time around. I’ll probably blog about them after I finish everything.

Oh, by the way, I moved my microblogging to my second Tumblr. Recent manga posts are HERE. Also, I actually rant more on there about my life.:|

Spring 2011 Anime Chart ~created by Cowboybibimbop
Now is the time to decide which I anime I shall be following in the next season!:] Seeing the failure that this anime season has been for me, where I only attempted to follow a single series and failed, I am determined to let the next season pull me out of this hiatus and aimless spiritual wandering. I don’t know if it has something to do with my busy schedule (READ: cheering practice), laziness (since I wasn’t able to follow ‘em from the start, I lost the will to catch up since I don’t like having anime marathons if they’re not on DVD) or lack of interesting material (Gintama raised my standards), but for weeks at end, I haven’t watched a single anime episode. Dramatic as it may seem, but I felt as if I’m not who I used to be. I already dropped my animanga blogging to a near nil level, but to stop watching it altogether… is quite confounding. So in order to hype myself up, I am listing the titles which I would most probably watch (or at least check out) in the next season. These decisions would be based entirely on the summaries provided by the chart, so vaguely written, cliche, booby or substandard plots will be scratched from my list only temporarily. If I decide to check them out will depend on how fast a series creates its own fan base. This is actually how I knew Durarara!!:D Imagine if I didn’t watch it because of its boring-sounding series preview. (But then, if I think about it, it really is hard to come up with a proper summary of that show without spilling to much.)
Gintama- Undoubtedly the first on my list! No words could describe how much my sister and I are looking forward to April just because of this: this little ray of sunshine and mayonnaise-flavored drool in our lives. Hyping ourselves up at the possibility that there would be more of Takasugi and Kamui in this season. And yes, if there are no major arcs, those stupid one-episode stories could still make us happy and all giggly. I’m not even exaggerating.
Nichijou- The story looks weird enough to be interesting, and honestly, the image caught me. The art style’s really cute and I feel a hint of idiocy from the girl. Teehee.
Hen Zemi- The phrase “Abnormal Psychology” got me.
Toriko- WTF HAHAHAHA. This show is about cooking?! Really?!:))
Steins;Gate- I thought it was a typographical error: the semi-colon right there. Anyway, I haven’y seen Chaos;Head yet so I don’t know if being in the same setting is good or not, but I think it’s worth a try. Or should I watch Chaos;Head first? The only thing I know about Chaos;Head is that it tackles psychology.
Denpa Onna to Seishun Otoko- Crossing my fingers that this isn’t some cousin-related ecchi since the general plot interests me (aliens!) and I am no way in favor of incest. (Yaoi yes, incest no.)
Ao no Exorcist- I’ve heard of this before.
[C] The Money of Soul and the Possibility Control- This better not disappoint me, as I already am disappointed with my financial status, because this focus on money is a bit new to me. Well, I’m not really sure if it really is all about money, but the summary gave off a vibe that is similar to Liar Game, which is honestly a tough act to follow. It looks like it will deviate from reality though basing on the image.
Deadman Wonderland- I already read a few chapters of its manga and I am quite impressed. Flying bodies all around ho-ho-ho merry and morbid and Battle Royale.

Reposting the AMV that my sister made for the anime series Durarara!!:) She remade it, and this time she used high quality raws. (Last time there were subs, and she’s OC like that so… please take the time to view it.:3) Wish I actually had her patience and creativity.

Warning: Includes spoilers for episodes 1-18.

I made this video presentation for my ChE143 class since our professor instructed that he wanted us to report the concept of coal-fired plants in a creative and commercial-like way. We were only given two days to prepare, so I crammed this within one night (ofcrz I used the first night to procrastinate). I used Durarara!! raws and a video I got from ze internetz. I decided to sub some scenes and integrate the information I needed to relay.

I made the video within 4 hours (it was my first attempt making a video) using Sony Vegas Pro and waited an additional 2 hours for the video to be rendered in the wee hours of the morning. After I was done, I watched the final product, and surprise, surprise, even though I used HQ raws, the video has a crappy quality.

I felt… annoyed. I felt annoyed at myself since once again, I exerted too much effort and got little appreciation. I don’t think my classmates really appreciated what I made since, let’s face it, the video made no sense. I was in another creative slump that night, and adding the fact that I have a grudge since my friends are out partying that night while I’m at home, making a lame video, does not make things better for me. And do you know what my classmates presented? Freaking PowerPoint slides or some Flash animation (which in some sense, also looked like PowerPoint slides but a little cooler) which would garner more points than my video since the criteria for judging is:

40% Concept

40% Mode of delivery

20% Creativity

Creativity LOLWAT. WHAT THE FLYING FREAKING FUCK. 20% creativity? If I had known, I should have copy-pasta’ad some information from the interwebs to several PowerPoint slides and dashed to the partying scene. My video did not have that much information in it. Is that fair? No, I think not.

Disclaimer: All scenes used in making this video below to their rightful owners. Please don’t sue me Durarara!! I just can’t resist using Shizuo’s owzmness.

Length: 2 minutes and 48 seconds

File size: 98.2MB —> Look at that large file size. This is why I cannot comprehend why the video quality is crap.

EDIT: Tumblr’s being an ass by making me wait about 2 hours to upload the video and turning up with nothing. Will try to reupload the video some other time; after two trials, I realized that Tumblr is a bitch today.:|

EDIT2:  Decided to just upload the video to my Multiply. IT’S HERE.
